Google tells me that there are 236 episodes of F.R.I.E.N.D.S. - and I haven’t seen a single one. Google also tells me each episode is roughly 20 minutes long. Which means it would take around 4720 minutes to watch them all. Which is 78.66 hours. Which is 3.27 days. That is how long I spent making a bag. Not just any bag - but a bag I was going to wear to a fashion show (so obviously it had to be the best thing I’d ever made). And it almost was - until I fucked it up.
The iron was a little too hot and I left it on a little too long and I burnt it. As I tried to salvage it everything else started going wrong - Murphy’s law (or whatever they said in Interstellar). Then my needle broke and so did I. I wanted to throw my sewing machine out the window and I probably would have if I knew how to open it - I really need to ask my landlord about that. Anyway. It was a disaster. The thing I had spent 3 days slaving over was ruined. Something that was so promising turned into a massive failure.
I felt the same way I imagine a mother would feel when they discover that the child they gave birth to and guided through childhood ends up being the kind of person who unironically shares Andrew Tate posts.
I was running out of time and had to think of something else. That something else ended up becoming the bag you see here.
In life, things will fail - like I did in my year eight maths class. And things won’t always turn out the way you want them to - like the ending of Titanic. But sometimes, things turn out even better than how you’d planned - like this bag.
I still haven’t seen a single episode of F.R.I.E.N.D.S. but I don’t mind. I’m not really into crime shows.

i put a lot of time and care into my work to make sure everything is done well. but sometimes things don’t turn out perfectly and in most cases i would go back, try again and fix it. but in the case of screen printing, you can’t exactly go back and redo a bad print. so instead of totally scraping the prints that didn’t turn out perfectly, i decided to roll with it and have some fun instead. this is how they turned out. i like them - maybe even more than the original ones. and they remind me that things can still be just as good, even if they’re not perfect.
as they aren’t meant to look exactly like a silica gel packet, they aren’t padded like the OG ones and they have boxed corners for added depth. there is only one of each “misprint” available. ok that’s all thanks for listening to my tedtalk. imma do my washing now.
