JAY KELLY is out on Netflix! And if you pause it just right it looks like George and I are besties, while Adam Sandler’s ghost looks over us.
It was a super fun few weeks of shooting, and you can watch a bit of what we went through on the Making of Jay Kelly documentary on Netflix too. I think it’s pretty neat because it was a massive single shot with tons of people. And if you pause that just right it looks like I’m giving notes to Noah Baumbach and Emily Mortimer (I’m not).

A great time was had at @thespeakies on Monday night! Both Stephen Fry and I lost to Mark Gatiss (which makes us basically the same), but I think my category was stacked enough to warrant “it’s an honor just to be nominated.”
I dressed thematically to my book (I’m basically audiobook Zendaya) - Ken Liu’s the Dandelion Dynasty - with flowers, a fiery tie, and wings (though the shoes didn’t make the step & repeat photos). Also, yes I brought little de-shining sheets, no I obviously did not use them.
It was great to hang out with my team at Bloomsbury, and to catch up with the other East Asian nominees, Mei and Jeremy. Also it was fun to witness the adorable little re-Who-nion that happened.

The first two episodes of THE DEAL premiered at the London Film Festival on Sunday, and it was such a treat to be reunited with THE DEAL family - there were 17 of us on that stage from all over the world!
It was just as gripping and exciting the second time seeing it, and I can’t wait to see the rest of the series. I hope you all get a chance to watch it soon (you can in Switzerland now and in a lot of Europe shortly)!
My mom happened to be in town this week, so she got to come see it too!

There were some fancy people onstage, but I gotta say the best folks were those in the “virtuoso single take that opens the movie” - what a great way to make some fast friends on set.

THE DEAL premiered last week at Series Mania 2025 in Lille, France, where it won the inaugural Buyers Choice Award and received a special mention for writing.
I watched the first two episodes of this increasingly relevant geopolitical thriller about the US-Iranian nuclear negotiations at the festival and thought they were pretty great, so I’m excited for everyone to see it in the fall.
It was such a great experience working with an incredible team and super fun and talented cast!
