Ho hey! I though it would be nice to introduce myself again since we’ve hit a new milestone!70k! It’s a lot of people! Thank you so much for your support.
I never post my face so this is a bit out of the comfort zone- anyways!
I’m kness, I’m a French Canadian potter and artist living and working in Montréal, Québec.
I’m in my 40’s and yes I’ve always had white hair - it started super early, around 16.
☕️ The work
My work is animal themed and cute, I create everything from scratch, from the lump of clay to shipping your order, this is a one woman business.
I craft tableware, mugs bowls and all, animal figurines, pet portraits and porcelain jewelry. I’m an illustrator by trade so this is also something I offer, in my own style (cute ^^). Custom orders are open on a regular basis and there’s a shop restock once a month. Stuff usually sell out fast - there’s a lovely mailing list you can subscribe to for uodates.
👩🏻🦳 The artist
I’m a mom of 1 cool kiddo, and I have a dog, he’s a corgi named Billy , a few fish and shrimps. I love to grow things and foraging for mushrooms, I walk a lot, I used to go horse riding and animals have always been a huge part of my life. I’m a vegetarian, and many other things including a feminist and I believe in science. Also I’m a capricorn and I know it’s silly but it’s fun, both can coexist ok?
I was born by the seaside and lived in France for most of my life. I moved to Quebec in 2017, that’s when I picked pottery up as a hobby. Since then I made it my main job and I love it with all my heart.
🐹🐰🐻❄️🐨🦊 and You
I think that sums it up?
Questions that come back often : my favorite animal is a narwhal, anteater, my dog and so many more, I can’t really pick one. Sorry ^^
This post is 100% meant to be an ask me anything type of thing so go, ask away, I’ll reply to everything :)
Ps: I listen to a lot of music and this track is one of my absolute favorites. ❤️

Seal bowl painting and the end result is another bowl but it’s the same technique and motif ^^
This is underglaze on black clay and the inside is a blue glaze (Norse blue). I paint 2/3 coats of white on this clay because it’s very easily taking over the light underglazes

The yarn bowl is available.
Sketch to Sculpture - Part 2
Here is the sculpture from the first firing to the glazed and then finished piece.
I learned that the sculpture is still with the commissioner so that's a good bit of information, I hope it stays that way ^^
I wanted to write more about why I'm not super comfy with this after the fact. Let's be clear : I was paid promptly and appropriately, there was little negociation etc so overall the business part of things went well. The terms were respected.
What I was less ok with is the part where I'm considered more of a maker than an artist here - in the sense that the piece is rarely cited as made by me, it's become kind of a white label thing and I wasn't aware this would be the case. Most of the art from this person's portfolio looks commissioned from others, making it hard to know what they do exactly.
And I mean it's fine, why not, but it doesn't match with my values and how I do things. I don't consider myself a fine artist but I'm not just a maker of porcelain stuff either, it's tough to explain and the lines are very blurry sometimes ^^
Anyways, I'm still very proud of this one, I hope it stays in a cool collection and I will not do that kind of white label art collaboration again :D lesson learned, no hard feelings. Sometimes we have to experience things to know that we don't adhere fully to them.
PS : I tried to stay subtle and kind and not elicit any kind of conflict here. I know social media is perfect for rage etc but I'd really appreciate if everyone stayed polite and sweet please. If the comment section goes sideways I will close it without thinking twice ^^
Sketch to Sculpture - Part 1
2 years ago I was contacted by another artist about a commission, the brief was : a porcelain sculpture with 16 animals, the animal species were listed.
I sketched two concepts and worked for a few months on this. It was my first "big" piece, destined for an exhibition in South America.
Sculpting took several weeks between the actual work and the extremely slow drying of everything, I was STRESSED. If any part broke I wasn't sure I would be able to patch it up.
Interestingly enough, I took so much time it went almost flawlessly, you can see in the pictures the base did disconnect from parts of the flock of animals but it was for the best in the end.
This was to be white with black details and no pink.
I'll post the finished piece in another post because of the 10 pictures limit.
I have to say I'm mostly uncomfortable with this piece as a whole, not because of the art itself but because of the human part of things. I thought showing the process and the finished piece and writing about this would be interesting to other artists, the public and maybe would help with moving on from this. I'm not thinking about it often but I'm still meh about it.
I learned a lot with this, both artistically and about handling commissions like this one - which I now know I'm not ok with :D
To be continued.
PS: I don't know where this piece is at the moment.

I got some new stickers, postcards and stickers sheets yesterday ! I added the stickers sheets and postcards to the shop.
The capybara stickers will be added as a freebie to your orders until they run out. I think I'd like to do a monthly sticker that I'll add to every order. I also will ship these to my adorable ko-fi monthly supporters ^^
All of the stickers are matte vinyl instead of paper. They're dishwasher safe and durable.
This batch is printed in Canada.

Good morning. Have you ever seen a CUTE SLUG NECKLACE ? Well if this was your life quest, consider it fulfilled and now I feel a bit guilty because what will you do after this? Please let me know, it will help with my day.
If you wanted to wear a slug pendant that i lovingly made with my hands, porcelain and real gold highlights : I have good news for you! This one is available now, there is only one piece.
There are also mini colorful slug figurines available in case your love for slugs wasn’t to be made public and stayed at home, I understand.

Ho look, 12 cute hamsters !
This painting has some glittery watercolors on it and there's a gold hamster in there ^^
This small watercolor is available as a print, as an original artwork and it will also be featured as a sticker sheet in the coming days. I'll repost it ^^
Tiny slugs ! They come in various shapes and colors and they're all happy little fellows. I made a few of them with my new porcelain and they turned out pretty vibrant and cute ^^
They'd be happy on your shelves, in your plants - although I doubt you have an indoor lettuce, their favorite :D - or even as a desktop buddy.
Available now :)

I usually post either pieces that are going to be available or pieces that are available, so on restock day, a bunch of work sells pretty fast and doesn't get their spotlight moment here ! Which is kinda weird when you think about it because it's the most popular work and yet, I don't really promote it XD
Anyways! Here are the 10 pieces that went too fast and that are on their way to their new homes already. If you missed them :
- there are waitlists on the website and I use those to know what I'll be making in the coming weeks.
- some pieces have several iterations like the mola mola pendants, or the corgi tumblers (which all 4 sold out already), so feel free to browse ! And who knows, maybe you'll like something else in there ^^

New cute coffee tumblers! I made 10 little porcelain coffee tumblers, they're the perfect size for a popular espresso machine's lungo - tested and approved by myself :D
These were first made as test cups because the clay I use most changed formulas : this is a potter's nightmare :D
Every time something changes I have to retest every combination of underglaze and glaze. So I usually pick a small sized item and a simple pattern I can paint pretty quickly in order to avoid heartbreak in case of a disaster. Sometimes it goes well as with this batch which turned out perfectly well.
There were 10 cups and 4 are still available as I hit publish on this post :)
Oh and thank you so much again for this Sunday's restock, shipping is halfway done! There are still many cuties available for this huge restock so feel free to browse, it's not too late :D
