Made this earlier this year, wanting to move more into 3D cinematics and playful game worlds. I want to turn people into characters in their own imagined worlds and set em loose. You get to direct things and play god, people can grab a controller and move themselves around. A kind of “Being John Malkovich” connection happens when you see yourself portrayed in a limitless parallel world. It’s a good basis for a new kind of storytelling and goes beyond just games / gaming culture. Hoping to push further into this kind of work, stay tuned.
“When Cardinal Thomas encounters Ari, a stranger who is at once unnerving and captivating, he
must choose between his avowed beliefs and the pull of his innate human compassion.”
Was stoked when director and MN homie / former neighbor @scott_fitzloff told me about his sci fi short film and asked me to do sound design on it.
It won first prize at LA Shorts last year and is now available to watch online. Link in bio 🎥
Before making videos / animations was a job, ten years ago, I did passion projects. Made this animation after hearing a clip of Haruki Murakami reading a chapter from one of his most famous novels.
After I got hired, I used the techniques I learned from this one project on a bunch of stuff for years after.
Yet at a 9 to 5 in advertising I never had the energy after work to make anything on my own. Freelance was kind of the same for a good year and a half, the creative juices get drained.
Now I finally had a lull and the time to put some stuff out and it feels great.
I’m picking up this animation + storytelling idea, but with an updated live aspect to it. Stoked to show you.
