Join me tonight for the first of a monthly creative writing workshop series! Hosted at @poplarunion from 6-7.30pm and free to book, it’s a great space to explore those ideas in your notebook and set aside time to write with a group of other writers ✨

Stumbled across this jazz classic while looking for another song and felt like having a sing for the pure fun of it! Have a lovely weekend everyone ✨

Sketches from Field Notes #7 - read the full essay on substack ā€œIf that’s not success, to have fallen more in love with the process of making music, then I don’t know what is.ā€

When you have a creative vision it can be really difficult to accept that what you’ve made isn’t matching what you dreamt up. Feeling scared I’m gonna ruin my ā€œgreatā€ ideas has stopped me writing poems, finishing songs, making cakes or even trying new crafts. So it’s with the reluctant humility of an ever learning artist that I’m committing to making my ideas and letting them be as good or bad as they are. As Shrek says, ā€œbetter out than in!ā€ šŸ˜† #musicproducer #creativity #songwriter

A year’s worth of seeing live music in London, some familiar faces and lots of new! And the songwriter whose CD I’ve played to death playing at my local pub?!?! Priceless.

A few highlights from the @amplify_herlive songwriting camp and feeling profesh and refreshed. I already knew I loved producing music (and I’m grateful for my early days of mucking about on garageband) but to produce for a full two days and spend the whole time working with creative, fun, skilled women? Wowza. Will be working hard to make this a more regular reality in my life from here on out. šŸ’›

Every time you step into a studio, your voice should be heard and valued. Buttttt it’s not always the case, which is why I started producing music in 2019.. Your voice, your song, your story are worth being heard and sharing. Whether you figure out how to do it yourself or you wanna collaborate with other women (like me), my invitation to you is to take your creative dreams and go for it! #songwriter #womeninmusic #musicproducer

I’m still having my butt kicked by burnout. Four and a half years on from the ā€œbig oneā€ and while I haven’t figured out what it is that drains me of everything so quick, I’ve been taking some small wins. Like celebrating small and short sessions more often rather than doing 1 big music marathon a week. Or sitting in a chair and watching the clouds after a recording session to remind myself the recovery is as important as the output. Progress over perfection right? #burnout #artist #londonmusic #creativeprocess
