Scottish National Party secured a historic fifth term in the 2026 Scottish Parliament election, despite falling short of an overall majority. The party has won 6 out of 7 constituency seats in Glasgow, while Greens’ Holly Bruce won former FM Nicola Sturgeon’s seat in Glasgow Southside. Anas Sarwar, leader of Scottish Labour, said his party is “hurting today” as they only secured 17 seats in Holyrood, coming to a tie with the rising Reform UK Scotland.
