I’ve unintentionally been confusing patience with stillness for quite a bit of time now. However, now that we’ve cleared up the confusion, I’m ready to get going again. A lot of great things have been happening to me unintentionally as mixed streaks of luck and preparation, however, I want to get back to focusing on moving forward with real intention. The reality is that I can’t do everything and anything forever, so let me do the things I really want to do right now, while still being mindful of the near future. I’m gunna go ahead and get the jumpstart before the new year and before my birthday. I still have plenty of things I want to do, learn, fail at, succeed at, and puzzle out. Despite how deafening this online space can feel at times, I’m going to choose to post a bit more, share a bit more of myself and the progress, and help make this corner of the world a little more tangible per the advice of a mentor whom I so deeply respect and admire. Everything makes noise, so I’ll do my best to make a nice sound. Thank you for the taking time to ride my wavelength with me. Feel like I’m just about ready to wrap up this version of myself. From someone who used to audition for kpop agencies way back in middle school to doing work for the kpop industry, little wack ass teenager me would be very proud of the places we’ve gone. Being Asian is DOPE, kid. I’ll continue to be grateful for all the opportunities @bts.bighitofficial has granted me over the years - I’ll be here ready for whatever else the kpop world has in store. Also on a real note, most of the times it really isn’t about getting that front and center spot so you can throw a clip into your dance reel, it’s about making the vision happen, being that small puzzle piece in a 10000 piece puzzle that helps in whatever way you can. 🪷 I want to get into the habit of celebrating more often. I want to tell my friends about how their travel photos abroad bring me joy, how their strava routes encourage me to get out of bed and workout in the mornings, and how their close friends story rant sessions make me feel like a human being. I’m working on it, I swear. Sometimes I think that I say “thank you” too often, but it doesn’t lessen the meaning if I mean it every time, right? Anyways - thank you. Thank you for letting your colors manifest out through your bodies and spirits, for letting them mix and meld through the natural chaos that surrounds our day-to-day. It could just be the springtime, warm weather creeping in that’s making me feel energized and more motivated these days, but we both know there’s probably a little bit more to that to say the least. 💛 Proud proud proud of these ladies for making this vision come to life with their own hands and putting up with my nonsense for these past few weeks. It’s been exactly 10 years since the last time I was on this stage and I wouldn’t have wanted to do it with anyone else. The dream is to keep putting out meaningful work - as in it means something to me in the moment, something to us as individuals, something to us as a whole. Just something. “Excited” doesn’t exactly capture all the different colors of emotions I’ve been feeling after this weekend. 🌧️ The cold drizzle starts to melt away the dirty New York ice, fusing together to make the nastiest slush puddle filled with sidewalk salt runoff and cigarette butts. He carefully approaches the end of the uneven sidewalk as he gauges the width of the mystery, murky swamp monster that guards every street corner. A bold leap. The heels of his busted sneakers touches the edge of the monster’s grime. Small shivers sprint up his spine as he shakes his head in minor disappointment. A firetruck masterfully back parks its way into its nook, pausing human traffic for what feels like a blink or two. AirPods are nipped from his ears with the left hand, the glass door’s handle ripped with the right. Almost 200 classes taught in this building since the first sub. Damn. - Thank you for taking the time out of your busy lives to dance with me in the new year - fighting the cold, fighting the colds, hoping you don’t fight nobody on the street while you slink through the subway station and into the studio.
