Meet James Lawrence, aka the ‘Sonic Sorcerer’! 🎛✨ (@_jalawrence ) A professional audio engineer, record producer and lover of all things sound. His attentive and cooperative approach to music production breaks down creative barriers, respecting and honouring clients’ visions while invigorating them with the many tricks stashed up his sleeves. James’ diverse range of musical and technical influences which have informed his signature punchy drum mixes, organic acoustic guitar recordings and silky smooth vocal productions. His philosophy incorporates a hybrid equipment setup, merging the precision and efficiency of a digital toolset with high-end analog equipment from manufacturers including BAE, Universal Audio, SSL and Moog plus his own personally hand-wired saturation units! James’s pursuit of music creation led him through guitar lessons, vocal coaching and NSW’s Talent Development Program before he focussed his studies on music and audio technology in his Bachelor of Creative Arts degree at UOW. His academic diligence achieved his Dean’s Scholar status and being awarded First Class Honours by the university for his research into data sonification and interactive quadraphonic sound installation. He operates an independent bespoke music production business, ‘Sonic Sorcery Mastering’, whose highly regarded mastering services have polished singles, EPs and albums for artists in Australia, Norway, the United Kingdom, the USA, Canada, Serbia, Egypt, Mexico and Brazil. His work with sampled orchestral composition and soundtrack creation has been commissioned by podcasts on the worldwide Pickaxe network. In addition to his business, he has worked as a voiceover talent on countless hours of television programming broadcast nationally by the ABC and SBS, as well as building his own body of recorded music; both solo and in collaboration with other talented artists. In his spare time, James enjoys nature photography, learning board games with beautiful art, adding new curry recipes to his repertoire and re-watching Red Dwarf episodes he’s already quite capable of quoting start-to-finish. 💫 Contact us today via email to book a session with James!

May I present ‘Ginger bRed Dwarf’, a festive gingerbread recreation of Red Dwarf’s titular mining vessel! This jolly baked homage weights over 1.65kg and took over 6 cups of icing sugar to glue together. I may have been up late on Christmas Eve, but I sure think it was worth it! . #reddwarf #gingerbread #christmas
