Osoo Omondi is a man of many hats; currently serving as the CEO of Different Dimension Productions, his decade-long journey in the African film eco-system has seen him transform into a Pan-African Film producer, entrepreneur and consultant in the African film space. His passion is fueled by the belief in the richness of African narratives, our creative brilliance, the influence of film on policy, and the need for sustainability in the creative industry.
His work has been featured in prestigious film festivals in the continent and around the world. He’s been part of global film conversations and film roundtables in Cannes and Berlin championing for the African film industry.
Why behind the lens rather than in front of it? Osoo says, “I gravitated behind the camera because it lets me architect entire worlds and amplify diverse voices, rather than being the singular face. Producing and directing allow me to champion underrepresented African stories, navigate distribution hurdles, and build film ecosystems that empower entire crews and communities.”
To move the needle, Osoo serves as the Head of the African Office at Drama Deluxe International to give life to underrepresented African stories. Additionally, to remedy the distribution hurdles facing the continent, he co-founded ENTA Studios, a platform created by Africans for African films, documentaries, animation, and shows.
Osoo is also interested in animation, seeing it as a way to blend African folklore with futuristic storytelling beyond what live action can do.
His journey offers a model for future creatives, showing that industry leadership comes from early business skills, strong networking, relatable storytelling, and turning rejection into better strategy.
For Osoo, visual storytelling is not just entertainment, but a tool for economic empowerment and preserving African narratives for future generations.
