Two years ago I designed this caftan for a very special occasion.
The moment meant so much to me that it became a personal project: I wanted to shape every detail with intention, to create a piece that could speak and carry the message I needed to tell.
This caftan became a reflection of what I was feeling at that time and a way of translating emotion into fabric. I paid attention to colours, textures, shapes…
My greatest inspiration was the women around me. I thought of their beauty and taste, their strength and resilience, and their ability to preserve tradition while transforming it for new generations.
A few weeks ago, the caftan was included in UNESCO’s List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. This recognition reminded me how vital it is to protect craftsmanship, artistry, and cultural meaning. It also reaffirmed something simple and powerful: these traditions are not only necessary but profoundly beautiful.
When I consider the embroidery, the detail, and the heritage woven into this caftan, I think of the hands and stories that came before it and of traditions passed down through generations, of identity, memory, and belonging.
Today I celebrate this recognition with this caftan, a piece I have always taken very seriously.
Perhaps I took the idea of “wear your heart on your sleeve” a little too literally.

A WOMAN’S PORTRAIT. COMING INTO YOUR OWN
Every shoot I do with @_imaniman is a beautifully profound contemplation of where we are in our journeys, and this was such a testament to the moment we’re living right now. The confidence, the warmth, the exploration, and the powerful gaze that pierces through the camera as if to say, I’m ready and excited for the decade to come. We shot this after I had just turned 30 and Iman was about to, and I love how everything in the photos speaks to that moment in time, down to the connection and the vulnerability felt between the person in front of and behind the camera.
To immortalize my friend, a woman I deeply admire and rely on, and to be able to capture the beauty, vulnerability, and fierce love for life she radiates has been a gift! ❤️

In order to catch beauty you need to see beauty.
It is fascinating how a city can reveal itself to you, how true the statement “beauty is in the eye of the beholder” is and how ordinary scenes are actually the most stunning.
The thing is that now I’m able to see it here. It was quite simple: I just needed to relax, give it some time and look closer.
