“Teardrop” by @massiveattackofficial , performed with @salxsally and the incredible @kabirou_katala Kabirou ‘s band.
I met Sally during a gig at Jamin in Cotonou. I was mesmerized by her voice and deeply impressed by the musicianship of the band. She was so kind that I asked if she’d be up for singing with me and the band.
Obsessed with the album Mezzanine, and I thought it would be interesting to blend our different vocal tones with the band’s musical influences.
One day later, we were reunited in the studio: Benin met Togo, met France, met Nigeria.

Tektonik is not a dance. It is a brand.
Tektonik is often incorrectly described as a dance style. In reality, it is a registered brand that emerged in France in the early 2000s. The name “Tektonik” was created as a commercial concept, linked to clothing lines, events, and a distinct visual identity. It was never intended to designate a dance form.
The dance itself is called Electro dance (or simply Electro).
Electro dance was born in clubs and underground spaces, shaped by dancers long before media exposure. It is a freestyle practice rooted in musicality, individuality, and community, constantly evolving through battles, social exchanges, and personal expression.
When mainstream media embraced the movement, the Tektonik brand gained more visibility than the dancers who actually built the culture. This led to a widespread confusion, flattening a deep and living artistic practice into a marketing trend.
Referring to the dance as “Tektonik” is therefore incorrect and misleading. It erases the history, the dancers, and the underground culture that gave birth to Electro dance well before it became popular.
Electro dance is not a brand.
It is a culture, a language, and a living art form.

Don’t try to fit in everywhere. Be you.
The world is going crazy, this is the time for us to believe in “us” again.
Fight with what you’ve got deep inside. Don’t pretend to be the one who knows everything about the news, who knows everything about the science of harmony, about the way to write a song. Be you.
Sometimes we want to be more because it looks cool. We feel like s***t most of the time, but the only thing we’ve got is ourselves as human beings.
Be you.
