Grafana has over 20 products, and each word – observability, scanning, analytics – means something very specific to a developer.⁠ ⁠ @_hex.inc built a visual system where each treatment describes what the products does. A geometric block represents the platform. Modular pieces connecting to it represent individual products. Scanning becomes a line moving through blocks. New brand identity work for Sim! Sim is an agentic workflow builder that enables developers and teams to create AI-powered automations, connecting models, tools, and data sources into workflows that run autonomously. The brand is built around a single idea: nodes fusing to create new nodes. Sim's product is about composing agents, models, and tools into novel workflows, and the visual system mirrors that logic. Early concept for Synaptrix. A visual system for a new generation of non-invasive brain–computer interfaces. For this concept, we draw visual inspiration directly from neural networks. Branching paths, distributed signals, and the fluid way information moves through the brain. We translate that behavior into a generative visual system where colors carry volumes and move across cells and synaptic bridges in an organic way. The result is a visual language that reflects how neural information actually flows between the human brain and Synaptrix's models -- fluid, adaptive, with minimal noise.

First Star is a Cambridge, MA-based pre-seed fund, that backs visionary research-driven founders. As a core objective of this system, we wanted a visual language that felt computational while still being grounded in academia. Since serving researcher-founders and academics were a core part of First Star's narrative, we wanted visual system that could instantly speak to that audience. After some experimentation, we landing on pen plotting: an artistic technique involving a physical robot that holds a pen or pencil and makes vertical and horizontal patterns on a physical paper based on an algorithm. This concept felt fresh and mature, and grounded First Star's brand into a blend of human and machine. hex.inc/work/first-star

Early explorations of Wavelength’s brand identity. The concept began with the visible-light spectrum. Different wavelengths are translated into color states across the system. We pushed the palette further with higher saturation, sharper contrast, and more expressive shapes. A spectrum mapping connection, state, and flow.
