We don’t dance. We dissolve - into spirit, flesh, algorithm, instinct. Into a new species of intimacy. Our love has always felt a little non-human. This time, the camera finally caught it. What unfolded here was an invocation. The raw pulse between me and my partner in crime + in life - our yin & yang, our mirror movements, our tiny rebellions against gender roles, gravity and definition. Purely us surrendering to a beat & each other. Daemonium was born exactly there: in the charged space where spirit meets circuitry, where love becomes expression, and where the human soul dares to flirt with the post-human. When @matthias_frank_fotografie approached @_hemmin and me for this project - for an interpretation of post humanism - there was this one question humming in our bones: Where does the human being end, and where does the machine begin? And is that boundary still real… or already dissolving? In the series, you see two humanoid beings, holding, melting, guiding, confusing each other. Almost human - but not quite. Nipples missing. Eyes still. Bodies shaped by sth beyond biology. As if evolution took a detour through the digital underworld and came back with new myths for us. Through dance we explored the ancient tension: Who leads? Who follows? Where is agency when spirit and algorithm intertwine? And how much of ourselves are we willing to give to the future we’re creating? Every frame is a relic from a live performance, an improvisation where we surrendered to something larger - a guiding force, a daemonium, that whispered from inside and beyond at the same time. I don’t see this series as answers. I see it as a mirror. A place where you get to meet your own questions about identity, embodiment, power, surrender, and the future we’re already dancing with. And honestly… this project feels like one of the purest expressions of our love. How we complete each other. How we challenge each other. How we build worlds together in the liminal space between tenderness and mutation. Welcome to Daemonium. A spirit with many faces. Luuk van Hemmen @rrratje ‘Rotterdam’, acrylic on canvas, 150x200 cm, 2023 “My inspiration for this artworks comes from the industrial harbour in Rotterdam, where clouds and smoke create the background for the cranes and containers. The Maas flows through the harbour, creating a division while also glueing the two quays together.”
