These mini egg bites have officially become one of Zalayah’s favorite breakfasts, and Zamir was nearby making sure quality control standards were being met. 😂
Moments like this are such a sweet reminder that having the camper parked in the backyard comes with some pretty special perks. Slower mornings, tiny helping hands, and extra time making memories with my favorite little people.
I read a quote a while back that said, “You can have a million problems until you have a health problem… then you only have ONE.”
I felt that in my soul because I’ve lived it.
I do a lot of preaching about never giving up on yourself, but today I needed that reminder too.
I had to update my driver’s license today. Sitting in the parking lot, I caught myself being critical of the new photo. Then I remembered the last time I was in the Florida DMV.
I pulled up that old license photo I had saved on my phone.
I had to use my cane just to get through the door. There was an agonizing amount of fluid around my brain. My nervous system could not neurologically tolerate the lights and sounds around me. I had just left the doctor after another significant relapse of my chronic condition.
What I didn’t know then was that my personal life was about to crumble, my successful business would eventually succumb to COVID, and I was going to reach a point where I wanted to give up on not just myself… but everything.
Being mobility and neurologically challenged robbed me of my independence, my confidence, and for years I thought it had robbed me of my future too.
But somewhere deep inside of me, I could never fully accept that I would be trapped like that forever.
What a difference there is between my 2019 and 2026 driver’s license photos.
Yes, the physical transformation is honestly startling… but it’s what you can’t see in those pictures that made me break down crying in the parking lot today.
I look at those two very different women and remember every painful day, every fall, every neurological short circuit.
But I also remember every tiny step forward… every moment I refused to quit… every literal and figurative summit I’ve climbed since then.
Life is not usually gentle with us. There is so much we cannot control.
But our attitude and our perspective will always be in our hands.
Where our mind goes, our feet will follow.
Choose your thoughts wisely.
Choose your steps wisely.
And let this be your reminder from me once again: NEVER EVER GIVE UP ON YOURSELF.
This has been a 15 year journey with lots of plot twists!!
It really was a long way to the top… and these rocks really did rule.
There’s no way to capture how incredible this experience was in a one-minute highlight reel. I felt excited, challenged, panicked, exhilarated, accomplished—every emotion all in one climb.
I learned so much from our guides about using the equipment safely and properly, which gave me the confidence to keep pushing forward even in those tough moments. This may have been my first via ferrata, but it definitely won’t be my last.
Watching this back brought tears to my eyes… because not bad for a grandma who was once told she might never walk or talk normally again.
We all have struggles. We all have mountains—figurative and literal—to climb. But your mindset can turn those challenges into something powerful. Into something that elevates you.
You just can’t quit on yourself.

After a couple days of epic hiking and camping at Nelson Rocks in West Virginia and Hanging Rock State Park in North Carolina, we decided to give the tent a night off… and THIS is what we found!!
A groovy 70’s-inspired old school bus tucked away on private land in Hamlet 🚌
This place was such a vibe — colorful, cozy, and the perfect mix of funky + functional. And let me tell you… that hot tub after two days of hiking? ABSOLUTE MAGIC 🙌🔥 My sore muscles were very thankful.

Finally checked hiking and camping at Hanging Rock State Park off my bucket list!!
I got to walk out onto Hanging Rock at the summit—those views did NOT disappoint. I’ve been missing the mountains, and this was exactly what I needed. The waterfalls were absolutely beautiful, and even though we set up camp in the dark, we woke up to an amazing breakfast before hitting the trails.
Such a great place to adventure—definitely worth checking out!!
A few quick facts:
• Located in the Sauratown Mountains, often called “the mountains away from the mountains”
• Over 20 miles of hiking trails ranging from easy waterfall walks to challenging climbs
• Home to multiple waterfalls including Lower Cascades, Hidden Falls, and Window Falls
• The Hanging Rock Trail is about 3.6 miles round trip with one of the best summit views in NC
• Campground offers tent sites, RV spots, and group camping areas

The cutest little campsite tucked right by a creek set the tone for the perfect night before our Via Ferrata adventure.
Dinner? Steak and shrimp fajitas under the open sky… yes please.
We pitched our tent right next to the water, and the sound of that creek lulled us straight to sleep. Pure magic.
