A central greenhouse acts as both a growing space and a thermal buffer, bringing daylight deep into the home while helping regulate indoor temperatures.
Solar slabs, Trombe walls, careful orientation, and high insulation reduce the need for mechanical systems and keep operational energy low.
Conceived as a repeatable model, GreenHaus explores how architecture can quietly support daily life through passive performance and spatial clarity.
In these visuals, the design is shown as part of the urban context of Glasgow. The building’s material should blend in naturally with its neighbours of red and blonde sandstone, and not look out of place — apart from its clearly different, organic forms.
I studied how sandstone weathers on Glasgow’s historic buildings and emphasized those same effects here. The aim was to show how Barry Wark’s design turns the city’s natural process of aging into a defining architectural character.

Into this context, Barry Wark proposes a bold architectural intervention: a monumental form that rises like an urban cliff. Its surfaces are carved, textured, and porous — a terrain as much as a building. Designed to host moss, ferns, and vegetation, it suggests a street where nature and architecture reclaim common ground.
It is less an object, more a landscape — a civic topography for a city that thrives on reinvention.
