The original - the first - where it started. The first ever piece I made - as a joke - naive but true. Shot by @_gavin_watson the first time we met on a hot summer’s day above SB. Come along way since this was taken but the naivety led to a craft and the craft brings joy and there is always colour and vibrancy. #realfakebrand #naivestart #gavinwatsonphotography #lacostecrocodile #whereitbegan

SKINHEADS. INTIMACY. REALITY. Gavin Watson didn’t document a movement — he lived inside it. His photographs are not distant observations but fragments of life: friends, brothers, lovers, boredom, violence, tenderness. Shot in the late 1970s and 80s, his work captures British working-class youth from within, stripping away clichés and media distortions. There’s no spectacle here. Just truth. A room, a stare, a shaved head, a moment before or after something happens. Watson’s lens doesn’t judge — it stays close, almost too close. That’s where the power lies. These images became iconic not because they were staged, but because they weren’t. They remain one of the most honest visual archives of a subculture often misunderstood. — SKINHEADS. — #skinheadculture #gavinsonwatson #postpunk #britishyouth #documentaryphotography © Photos: Gavin Watson Special thanks & respect to the artist for this raw and essential archive. @_gavin_watson A CULTURAL DIARY.
