BB LIFE Enjoying spring at our favourite place — life at Balsberg has been delicious recently. Many (sweating) pilots on site and instructive sessions with typical spring conditions. Clearly the most demanding conditions of the year and that makes our training and the briefings even more important. Obviously this takes more time, but becoming a pilot simply takes more than a couple of weeks. As a paragliding school(!) we want to give pilots real tools, not just licences. Anyhow, we hope to be back at the slope and continue with our training as soon as the storms rolled by. Stay tuned butterflies 💖 #spring #paraglidingschool #chiemgau #flysgs

OPENING RECAP We are still speechless looking back at this year‘s season opening at Kössen. Three days of high-pressure weather with supreme flying conditions and a cloud base of nearly 4000 meters 😵 Congratulations to @danieltyrkas for setting the new xc-record from Kössen, flying a perfectly closed triangle with a distance of 265 km. #season #opening #kössen #2026 #flysgs

Friuli pt. 2 Another exceptional week of flying Monte Valinis at Friuli, Italy. It‘s rare to find stable weather for a full week, especially during springtime, but sometimes it happens… No words! Thank you all for flying with us and shout out to the crew for the smooth handling. Next stop @socavalley 🌊 Find more information on our website. Friuli pt. 1 This year‘s first trip to the southern fringe of the Alps could not have been more exciting. Looking back to a lovely camp with incredibly diverse flying conditions. Starting with a classic day at Meduno, facing strong north for a couple of days and discovering new sites — thermalling ultra high and soaring into the magic. Thank you all for flying with us, stay true 🤘 #magic #paragliding #flysgs

Balsberg X Chiemsee Every year, there are a few days when flying the iconic flatland lap around Chiemsee is possible. To launch from our training site at the bottom of the valley makes it even more rare, certainly one of the most beautiful flights. Since we received quite some questions concerning this specific flight, we would like to mention a few things. First of all, the launch at Balsberg around solar noon is more than critically. If you are launching too early, you will most likely land three minutes later. And if you wait for the thermals, the valley breeze will kick in and you will fly through a heavy lee rotor above our slope. Therefore, we will not try do this flight on a regular (xc) day at Balsberg. Crossing the lake is tricky, to put it mildly. Not because it‘s technical to fly, but obviously because of the risk of not making it to the shore. When you cross a lake of this size, there is a point of no return. If you pass this line, you need to be sure of having enough margin to make the crossing. Checking the height, calculating the sink, emergency options, etc. The principle is: if you have any doubts, don‘t do it. This is just the same principle of every full turn that we do close to the ground or the ridge. Anyhow, flying close or above big waters with a paraglider carries high risks. Even close to the shore, going down into the water means you might only have a few moments to be rescued. So this is not meant to be a „how to“ make this flight happen, but rather an insight of decision making before and while flying. The point is, you can be prepared and fly confident, but you can not exclude the unknown. #staysafe #water #paragliding #neoparagliders #flysgs

Balsberg pt. 2 Waking up from a dream… After a short intermezzo at the slope, conditions during our second course of the year have been perfect. Another series of iconic days with some unique flying across Chiemgau, taking off from the cutest slope ever 🥰 And while we were doing so, our team member @cristoburger set a new record from our h/f training site. Congratulations for this beautiful triangle, truly inspiring flying. #xc #season #paraglidingschool #flysgs

Conditions across the Alps have been quite exceptional the past two weeks. Not necessarily unusual for this time of the year, yet a special time with a special guest. Flying through dimmed skies and thermalling pretty high above the backyard with our dear friend and Aeroworks team pilot @timalongi After all the years of flying together, this marks the beginning of another chapter. Exciting times to come, stay tuned butterflies! #heretofly #backcountry #paragliding #aeroworks #flysgs
