What if an economic diagram can treat economic units as permeable membranes instead of enclosed boxes? What if it portrays the economy as a more interdependent, rhizomatic web of connections? What if a line can be used not as a border, but more as an entanglement like that of a cat playing with yarns?

Weaving the Global Unconsicous - an AI Video x Fanfiction
23rd and 30th of January 2024, 10-17h

In this two-day workshop you will learn and apply AI video making
techniques to collectively create a short-film inspired by the practice of fan fictions. AI technology makes it increasingly easy to construct moving-image narratives that build upon pre-existing visual lore, allowing for endless remixing of established content, including deep-faking universe crossovers or self-inserts. How does universe-fluidity alter the meaning of stories and characters?
You will learn to navigate Stable Diffusion and basic prompt writing, make use of custom checkpoints and LORA models, inpainting, controlnet, and deforum. We will also look into AI software such as d-id, elevenlabs, and inworld. However, the techniques employed might also vary according to technological innovations occurring until the date of the workshop. At the end of the workshop, we will watch our film together and discuss the impacts of AI videos on society and the film industry.
The number of spots is limited to 12 participants.

Very happy because "Shrimp Love" will be playing at the @kurzfilm_hamburg festival on Friday!

Can shrimp fall in love? I tried to find answers talking to shrimp farmers, philosophers, and activists.
Making my first film was quite a journey, plungeing me into deep crises, lifting me to euphoria and meeting so many interesting people and places on the way, pfew! Now it's there!
It all wouldn't have been possible without the amazing support of @video_power , Tim Rutten and @michielubels who did the edit and @annelenevl on the camera.

Finally some pictures of the Fan Fiction Wishing Well installation that @milesworner.bits and I made for @transitionsmaastricht at the @de_meldkamer in March!
We invited the visitors to make their own spinoffs of the films featured at the festival by whispering them to the (digital) well. Their stories got turned into video with the help of ai!
It was a lot of fun - thank you to everyone involved!!
