It’s my 𝗰𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗮𝗿𝘆 — the one-year anniversary of the surgery to remove the tumour that was pressing on the part of my brain that controls speech and comprehension — and I’ve started doing a lot the activities I used to do before the operation. But I have yet to go scuba diving again, in part, because if you have a seizure 60 feet underwater you’ll likely die. Friends have suggested that I might not need to dive anymore… but happening upon this van with its affiliation to the Diver Alert Network [DAN] made me think I should discuss it with experts.

A bittersweet visit to the final Sundance Film Festival to be held in Park City, Utah, full of heartfelt testimonials to the city that has played host for decades and to visionary festival founder Robert Redford. I saw 24 films in theatres — most with Q&As — including the 20ᵗʰ anniversary screening of 𝙇𝙞𝙩𝙩𝙡𝙚 𝙈𝙞𝙨𝙨 𝙎𝙪𝙣𝙨𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙚, attended some wonderful events, and spent time with dear friends, including those who have made me feel at home here for years!

This weekend, Combat Radio hosted the 15ᵗʰ edition of its annual Breakfast with Santa during which we feed and deliver presents to several hundred homeless kids and their families. And, once again, I had the privilege of getting Santa to his sleigh — L.A. County Fire Department Station 126’s hook-and-ladder truck — and riding along with him and the firefighters as we made merry for some very happy children.
