This year has not been easy for me in the slightest, I’ve worked hardddd so I deserve to flex small.

My grad collection means so much to me, it’s literally an extension of who I am, and the culture I’ve been brought up with , so seeing my big head up on that big screen and in the official class of 22 booklet has got me tearing up for reallll 🥲

"Sweet thing" - the Sandal
This shoe is the most commercial design of the collection. A simple and clean sandal with little details to personify that there is still a journey even if everything seems “sweet” for black women.
The sole pays homage to the end portion of the song "four
women" using the algothithm to stretch and manipulate the
soundwaves.
The upper uses a plain custom purple knit x neoprene base with 2 bright purple x custom purple kente strips
This sole is PLA printed, joined by milliput, sanded then spray
painted

My mum finally seeing my full collection after all the sleepless and late nights @ uni for months made it all worth it.
She called me a “Genius” , I agree.
Without my mums consistent and unwavering faith & support for my interests in fashion from the moment I was remixing my dolls outfits with paper , tissue and tape, I honestly don’t know where i’d be.

Knits & Colours 🧶💜
All uppers for my fmp were digital knits designed by myself.
Purple was the colour scheme for this collection.
Purple emulates royalty, richness and personifies for me the jazz era.
*multiple shades of purple and pinks used to show movement of sound through the shoe (as if the song is playing whilst walking), similar to ombré effect on soles.
Yarns supplied by @yeomanyarns (softly softly)
Custom “grape” coloured by @/paintbox textiles
1) Kente knit
Inspired by Ghanaian traditional woven kente cloth.
Plated to give multidimensional texture
2) Braided knit
Designed to replicate braid texture and pattern, also plated
3) Soundwave knit
Manipulated soundwaves used for the soles in digital knit form to create swirls (plated)
"Saffriona" - (RIP 😪) the Long Boot
This shoe is the heart of the song for this collection. The sole
encapsulates the entire "four women" song using algorithm, but altered and stretched using grasshopper.
The upper uses the gradient “swirl soundwave knit (plated)”
outer and reversed lining.
Colour is also a gradient on sole with a flexible SLA printed ankle cup.
Toe cap stiffener, neoprene insole, 1mm thick ribbing

“Aunt Sarah” - the Mule
This shoe is the backbone of the collection. A comfortable shoe as a juxtaposition to the plight of black women. The sole pays homage to the beginning portion of the song “four women” using the algothithm to stretch and manipulate the soundwaves.
The upper uses the bright purple x lilac x navy “braided plated knit”.
This sole is PLA printed, joined by milliput, sanded then spray painted
Toe cap stiffener, neoprene x knit insole , cowhide etched leather ankle loop and insole detailing
