After months of groundwork and a string of podcasts introducing its soundworld - the new London-based imprint Ebbs & Flows is proud to open its catalogue with its first official release: Spectral Shadows, a four-track EP from Belgian producer @pete_owl 🦉 Rooted in the UK’s long-standing tradition of forward-thinking bass music, @_ebbs_flows was founded with a simple aim: to explore the emotional, atmospheric corners of electronic music without getting boxed in by genre. The label focuses on movement, texture, and depth - music that shifts, expands, and breathes. Bringing Owl on board for the inaugural release feels spot-on. His productions have always carried a distinct sense of restraint and weight, the kind of tension that sits between the beats and lingers long after they fade. On Spectral Shadows, he leans further into this subtlety, crafting something cinematic yet unfussy - moody, spacious, and charged with that unmistakable half-step pulse. The EP drifts through deep drum & bass and halftime territory, full of shadowy atmospheres, detailed percussion, and melodies that feel like transmissions from somewhere just out of reach. @josephine_soundscapes is the moniker of Jose Salas, an audiovisual creator, art director, and active promoter of alternative culture in Madrid. When it comes to music, he has been an active participant in shaping Madrid’s underground electronic music scene for over 20 years. In recent years, he has founded and worked as artistic director, promoter, and DJ in club nights and platforms such as Club Paraíso Madrid, CALMA, and the independent creative cell a_mal_gam_a (Dance Cave; Avalovara, Listening Club, L’art Dance Club @ ARCO, and Festival En Pausa @ La Casa Encendida). The next chapter of FlowCast belongs to Jose, who was invited to open the Onyro party and was particularly pleased to shape the warm-up around the artist following him: Ghostdubs, with his fantastic live set. Without losing the experimental perspective that runs through his work, Josephine put together a selection of tracks shaped by dub, sometimes in a more direct way, and other times more conceptually, allowing himself to simply follow the flow. Planatia is a Berlin based selector and sound artist originally from Rome, dedicated to crafting immersive sonic landscapes where technology and nature converge. He stands among the founding members of Radiocircolo collective, an open space for encounter, experimentation, and transmission. He is also part of the electroacoustic duo Nuvola, through which he explores the liminal zones of ambient and experimental music. Resident on Cashmere Radio and Radio Alhara, his sound resonates as much on the airwaves as it does on the stages of festivals such as Waking Life and Parallel. He recently released a delicate and expansive remix for Mattia Onori on Southern Lights Records, alongside Katatonic Silentio. Next FlowCast comes from @planatia and was recorded in February at @newgrassberlin , Berlin, as a mellow opening of the dance room right before JJ’s (@rebloomlondon ) set. He especially enjoyed playing with the pitch mod on the turntables, pushing things well beyond the usual -8 range. All is in flux. In this body of work, he really wears his UK influences on his sleeve, morphing staple sounds from the worlds of drum and bass and dubstep into something much more introspective and subversive. Camu is a Madrid-based DJ and music programer working at the intersection of ambient, electroacustic and experimental electronic music. ‘The Doors Of Perception’ EP is out! The third release on our label comes from a London-based artist, Einerlei. In his EP for Ebbs & Flows @einerleimusic leans - in an arguably more overt manner than in his previous work - into influences from his home country, the UK. Seeking to finely balance the implied with the obvious, he utilises staple grooves and flavours from the worlds of dubstep, drum and bass, and footwork, morphing them into a varied collection of tracks underpinned by introspective textural layering, cinematic synthesis, and hypnotic pulsations. Moments of subversive and playful irony flourish within an otherwise reflective body of work. Meanwhile, @pianetisintetici proved to be an obvious choice of remixer, owing to the thoughtful and divinely subtle incorporation of UK-inspired motifs littered throughout his music.
