Joli Beal's small plein air paintings continue to charm our collectors with their loose brushstrokes and masterful choice of color.
Pictured here is "Hanalei Idyllic" featuring a paddle board on the shores of Hanalei. Painted during a recent trip to Hawaii, Joli wanted to capture the joyful memory from her family vacation.
Did you know that Heather Zusman was trained in woodworking on three different continents?
Her first exposure to woodworking came through The California Workshop in Costa Mesa, where she learned how to use a CNC machine to laser cut wood for custom lighting and furniture. This experience made her eager to work directly with wood, rather than through a machine.
Heather was then accepted to train at the prestigious Waters and Acland Furniture School in Staveley, Cumbria, England, where she learned the more formal process of woodworking by hand.
And finally, Heather continued her training in Takamatsu, Japan, at the Naoki Ikushima Factory, where she learned the Japanese art of Kumiko, or assembling wooden pieces without the use of nails.
All of these experiences were crucial to developing Heather's expertise with wood and setting the foundation for her art career.
