Took a break from things for a bit but you can take the dog out of the junkyard but you can’t take the junkyard out of the dog. DJing the @theatriumfortcollins May 31st with an absolutely KILLER line up with @dethrali@hexcassette and @real.grief
Once again I’ll be bringing the deepest of goth cuts and most stunning of new wave classics to round out the night. Slap on some eyeliner, throw on those fishnet stockings don’t be shy now. All goths are invited! This means the dark wavers, the cold cavers, the harshest boys, the curers, the modders, the ministers, the death grippers and especially the tourists 😉
Annnnnd it’s finally here. Released this lil number today. This remix has been stewing up for decades you can say. I’ve been a fan of @ThePhotoAtlas since I’ve been wee lad in the 2000s wearing girl jeans. I’ve seen this band transform and grow (and get fit and sober) but still keep the energy we loved back then. Alan once told me, “Never play the room, Jed.” Was that good advice? Idk probably not but I think about it a lot.
On a personal note, this project came around when things were exceptionally tough for me and creativity was hard to hold on to. It helped me take the pressure off myself and continue to expand as a producer. In the end I had to Just Keep Moving On. Special thanks for @jakobgosling for the album art and @a.m.pleasureassassins for the sweet mastering. Pretty sure I owe you both money. Thanks y’all, see you around the bend. 🙏🙏
Can’t believe it’s here again, the best day of the year for Ft. Collins music. I’ll at be @equinoxbrewing at 9pm Saturday so come have an existential crisis with me. Psst I’m also dropping my remix of @thephotoatlas tomorrow
I had so much fun DJing last night at @beancycleroasters with @jakobgosling that was legendary. Who knew game night could be such a sick party? We did.
If y’all want to hear some of the music again I have a recording of a practice session. It’s a single file… one hour and forty minutes of pure vibes. Got a long drive and want some curated mystery jams? It’s this. Want to let go of the controls and allow me to guide you on a sonic journey through deep cuts and hidden gems? I got you.
Message me for the Google Drive link.
Pleased as punch to finally have this out. It was an honor to remix this moody jam from @loganfarmermusic who is an incredible singer/songwriter. Even being outside my genre this song was oddly comfortable to remix, kinda like a pair of socks right out of the dryer.
In all seriousness, Logan’s music is very dreamy and cozy and it was fun to lean into that. I’ve chased the same feelings in my own music only I chose synth pop as my vehicle to get there. This remix allowed me to play up those themes without the brain smashing exercise of actually writing the song. I hope you all enjoy. Go remix your friends!
Stretching my DJ legs next week. I’ll be spinning at @theblackbox5280 for the amazing Alphabeat series on the 22nd then the next day I’ll be crushing Goth Night at @theatriumfortcollins for Maddy’s birthday on the 23rd. So excited to throw down some of the choicest, most soul crushing goth and goth adjacent tracks I know. How is prepping for a DJ set both easier and harder than doing a regular set? 🤷♀️ I’m just happy to be at the table.
The year: 2000nlate
The place: Atlas theater in Greeley, Colorado
The sound: played folk songs I wrote about books I read and wore a dumb scratchy sweater like I was Neutral Milk Hotel. Most of the people on this flyer still kick ass from what I can tell.
What a year. So many crazy ups and downs but in the midst of it all were moments of real jazz. Actually released music, been remixing friends, played some rad shows and all in all, had a blast. Let’s do it again but different.
Pain is a cloud. Hope is the sun. This was a tough one but I’m glad it’s out now. I wrote this for someone special and that’s all there is to it. You can find our new single “Signal Paths” on all streaming platforms.
Again a special shout out to the deb crew, @oliverrr.music for help with production, @a.m.pleasureassassins for mastering, and @quackjordan for the cool art.
