5 years ago this month I saw 1917 and it was the last movie I saw before changing my entire career path! It’s been a crazy journey but this weekend was one I’ll never forget! Thank you so much to the @nashfilmguild for making this all possible! #rogerdeakins #teamdeakins #sonyalpha #voightlander #photography Featuring @_willsmitherman_ ‘s Leica around my neck

Finally getting around to sharing some of my favorites from the UK! As seen from the top of Dover castle is St. Mary’s church built around the same time as the castle in 1066AD. Right next to the church is a Roman lighthouse built around 50AD and is the tallest Roman structure in all of Britain. The castle was added on to over several centuries and was at the center of many military operations. It was used in the Napoleonic wars as well as WW2, where it served as the HQ for operation Dynamo. This was the mission that saved nearly 340,00 British and French soldiers from the beaches at Dunkirk, which you can see across the English Channel on a clear day. While the city of Dover was bombed from across the channel; the castle never was. Supposedly Hitler was eyeing it from across the channel and wanted it to be his base in Britain when he invaded. Luckily no land invasion ever happened. The castle was well suited to defend from invaders having two battlements surrounding it and walls that are 35 feet thick in some places. I’m not sure if I’ve been to any other place with as much history as Dover castle. On our drive up the hill to the castle our Uber driver said “you sure you want to go there? It’s not really worth the 30 pounds to get in”. . . . #dover #dovercastle #uk #photography #travelphotography #travel #castle #dunkirk #minolta #sonyalpha #rokkor #sony #history

My first attempt at medium format! The challenge of composing through the ground glass on the Mamiya was harder than expected, but made me stop and think about my 10 shots. Thanks to @phynleyjoel for modeling and for enabling my film obsession 🎥: Mamiya rb67 🎞️: Ektar 100, Kodak gold #filmphotography #mediumformat #mamiya #filmsnotdead #sekor #fall #120film #ektar100
