This is a clip from a music video I produced for my friend @razmusic.co during COVID. The song is called, âFiresideâ
.
Had so much fun with this one. Shoots like these always seem like they can go anywhere. With the right people a shoot can be a place where everyone can have fun. The more I'm growing I find that dealing with the people around you with care and letting them enjoy the time with you is also a very important part of the job. Still got lots to learn and Iâm looking forward to more shoots as COVID dies down inshAllah!
Being at the London Mosque Vigil, I had mixed feelings about the event. But these are certain moments at the event that I found worth sharing.
.
May Allah protect this community, this movement and from it bring the peace that we all need.
A moment with a Religious Leader in Kenya.
.
When I get the opportunity to work on the field. There are moments that I get to come across extraordinary people.
.
This man was the religious leader of a small village in the outskirts of the city. He was responsible for teaching religious studies to the entire community. He was younger than the other leaders there. Still there was a certain way that he held himself. It was the way he walked, listened and spoke to you that is so powerful. When youâre in the presence of someone like that, you wonder what their entire story is. A few moments arenât enough.
.
When on the field I have to remind myself to look for people like this. Because in these countries that have been through so much, there lie the people who are beloved to Allah. In these small moments I have with them, I need to make sure to take as much as I can from them. It tough because of language so Iâm working on that đ
.
This village was provided with a solar panel well, which allows them to have a lasting supply of water. With this, as mentioned in the video, they are able to focus on so many things that are essential for a community. @islamicreliefcanada

Ramadan 2018, Lebanon.
Me and @fiyyazjaat drove across areas in Lebanon distributing food packs within the Syrian Refugee Camps. We gave out some candy and balloons as well to kids and their reactions would just make you smile.
.
Despite living in these tents and shelters made out of metal sheets, the Syrian people I met were radiant, hospitable and positive. You would be conflicted if someone were to tell you the story behind that one person, because you just canât put the two images together.
.
May Allah protect all of the refugees in this difficult time. We might be dealing with this pandemic, but itâs important to not forget the daily struggles they face.

I always thought the Awards ceremony is the one of the most important things at MIST. An entire school screaming and cheering for that one kid who walks up to the stage like a boss and claims their prize. Thatâs a pretty special moment for someone.
.
For all my peeps at MIST, I miss you guys. And InshAllah weâll all be together sooner than later :)

âWhat do you want to be when you grow up?â
.
In Pakistan, me and @yusramarwa had the honour of sitting down with some orphans and ask them a few questions about their hopes and dreams for the future. Their answers were so selfless. They were seeking opportunities in their lives to give back to those around them. Make a little dua for these kids and all those who are similar situations.

Throwback to Machu Picchu Challenge. This is my favourite sequence from the whole video.
.
The journey to Machu Picchu was probably one of the most challenging things that I have ever done in my life. Physically and mentally. Waking up 5am in the morning and hiking these tall cold mountains till the sun goes down for 5 days straight, it was just unbelievable. Ended up carrying a 25-30 pound bag filled with equipment đ¤Śđ˝ââď¸ . We reached peaks with only 30% oxygen, take 10 steps and your heart is just bursting. There were moments where I just couldnât focus on the shot because of the pure exhaustion, youâve accepted the state of constant pain, and it just becomes numb. I mean it when I say that I was very close to word âbrokenâ by the end of it. đ¤ˇđ˝ââď¸
.
But Alhamdulillah we made it. When youâve finished the challenge, you understand how some limitations you set on yourself are set by the mind. You can reach what you want by pushing for âone more stepâ (what I kept telling myself and it worked.)
.
The challenge of getting these shots and then editing them on a desktop at home (fist pumping in the air out of sheer excitement), altogether made it one of the sweetest moments for me as a filmmaker. Each shot here has a story. This video is more of a lesson for me than anything else, to keep pushing yourself to create something wonderful.

A small excerpt from a short film produced for @islamicreliefcanada called, âCharity Starts At Homeâ.
.
Wanted to make sure that the light was filling up the room and was soft on the actorâs faces, so we put up sheets to soften the light. The result was so much fun to work with.
