I’ve fallen in love with Oil pastels 😍
I’ve been using a very old box I got given when I was doing art A Level, I’d never touched them. And now they are nearly at there end. I love the way they feel, the texture are they draw. I feel an oil pastel fixation starting.
I was sucker punched (mentally) the other day and I poured my new energy into drawing. It helped me stay afloat and grounded me more than I thought it would. My head was constantly chanting “I will not drown” so I guess a life-ring was needed.

Crotchet shrug is complete ✅ I made my first one of these last year and they are such a cute accessory. I can’t wait to wear this more through these hot days, I think I also want it in more colours. However I’ll be looking for a multicoloured wool to crochet with as weaving in all these ends nearly broke me.
This was a really good project for using up those scrap end of wool balls that didn’t quite have enough for a full project on their own.

These books and I have a special bond. They are a constant escape and the reason I’ve found friends who regularly discuss the most unhinged books we can find.
It all started at book club. A much debated topic was the repetition of the word “Milk” (read the book to find out why🤣). A year on the group chat is still called Milk and I’ve gained 5 friends that feel like my own found family.
The series is set in Chestnut Springs and follows the Eaton family, with a trope for everyone these boys will have your hearts in no time. Thank you @authorelsiesilver for your books, they started a domino effect that changed my life.

The brief
Make a photo prop for Brownie guides to hold for Mother’s Day photos.
The plan
I really wanted it to look like the Brownies were holding out a cartoon bunch of flowers. After playing around I found bubble lettering mixed with helium balloon would fit nicely into the bunch.
The materials
Thick card (or foam board) various sizes of black markers and a pink felt tip.

Crotchet ghost snowdrop 👻
It worked out well that my secret Santa didn’t meet till March as it gave me time to get this little one finished.
Although I did crotchet a pot for it, I still needed a tiny plant pot to make it stay upright.
This was such a fulfilling project and I was manifesting getting my friend who loves ghosts for secret Santa so I had an excuse to make it.
It was fiddly and I struggle to count the stitches more the smaller the hook but I’m very happy with how it turned out.

One of my calmest hobbies.
It’s such a good way to push my “if it’s not perfect it’s bad” mentality. Allowing the chaos and miss match of memory scraps to show me how they fit together is a big part of the fun.
It’s taken a good while for me to become stricter with what gets “saved” and having the journal has helped because my mantra is ‘If it won’t fit in the journal I t’s not coming home’. Otherwise I end up with a bag of stuff that doesn’t have a place at home and I never get to see it.

And Lino printing was a great start to doing that. My first time carving letters, I tried bubble letters because I thought that would be easier but I still struggled with the spots inside the B and O’s.
I made these book mark for the gals for galentines and I’m proud of how they turned out.
