Compassionate God, thank you for those who lead our School Multi Academy Trusts across the region. As their Chief Executive Officers gather with Bishop Fiona today, we pray that they might be united in purpose, strengthened in wisdom, and encouraged in hope.

Grant, O Lord, that those who are appointed to ring the bells do it worthily and to your glory; and that those who are called this day by the ringing of bells to worship may enter into your gates with thanksgiving, and into thy courts with praise.

God of justice, as we remember Caroline Chisholm today, and her work with vulnerable immigrants and employment justice, we pray for all those who are victims of modern-day slavery, forced to work unfairly and living in inadequate conditions. We pray also for those taking action against modern day slavery.

Tony Cook, Assistant Director of Education and Head of Go Team, was among those who attended a special service at St Paul’s Cathedral in London this week, marking the 371st Festival of Clergy Support Trust. The event was a celebration of the ministry of clergy.
Thanks to a grant from the Trust, Bath and Wells is able to offer Life to Max and Family Max—special annual events for clergy children and their families. Tony and the Go Team organise these events each year, providing valuable support and encouragement for the children of clergy within our diocese, as well as their parents.

This week, Bishop Fiona joined members of the parishes of the Bishops Lydeard Benefice, and the farming community, for a Rogation Sunday service on Shopnoller Farm.
The sun shone as the congregation, seated on hay bales in the barn, came together to celebrate God’s love and mercy and pray for his blessing on our farmers, their land, and their work.
We give thanks for those who nurture and sustain our land, for the food we enjoy and for all who produce it.

As we remember Jesus being raised up on Ascension Day, we pray that all those in our Magnificat Parishes are raised up: raised up in the Holy Spirit, raised up in the love of God, raised up in peace and raised up in hope.

Oyez, Oyez!
Today we celebrated the legend of Wells that is Len, the town-crier.
Len has been the unmistakable voice of Wells for more than 20 years. Today marked his final Wednesday market, and what a send-off it was as he prepares to pass the baton (and the bell) to his successor, Phill.
Bishop Michael and the team from the bishop’s office joined the celebration, to thank Len and to give him a special gift as a token of appreciation for his years of dedicated service. We wish him all the best as he embarks on his next adventure!
Oyez, Oyez!
Lord of peace and light we lift to you all who are struggling in mind and spirit. Grant comfort to those weighed down or troubled and light to the darkness of loneliness. Give compassion to us all, so that we may break stigma and offer kindness without judgement.

Sending God, we pray for the ministry of those called to go beyond the walls of your church to grow your Kingdom and transform communities. Bless pioneer priest Sally Taylor and those who join the ‘Beyond the Walls’ webinar today as they explore the life you call them to.
