One year ago today I woke up in my beautiful nyc room for the first time and thought “what the hellie have I done?” jk it felt right from the start, good even when it’s hard, have barely scratched the surface vibes, teaching me to hold the light & the dark of the world & myself. The Blanket!! Since March the Solidarity Crochet Circle has been meeting weekly to slowly and lovingly hand crochet this blanket!! Months of love and care, many talented and brave hands came together to create this Weighted Blanket of Love. I myself made my first ever “granny square” with the tender patient teachings of Mika and Isabell. I am so grateful to have come into the orbit of the Blanket universe and to have been asked to document this big beauty, everyone involved radiates talent and love!! It features contributions from over 30 crocheters, as well as from members of the CUNY Hunger Strike @cunygc4pal in June.
The solidarity crochet blanket is now being raffled for Palestine. 100% of ticket proceeds will be sent to organizations addressing the effects of the genocide both in Palestine and at home: 50% of funds will go to @gazamutualaidsolidarity , which provides direct mutual aid to people in Gaza, and 50% to @palestinelegal , which gives legal support to U.S. college students and grassroots activists targeted for standing for justice in Palestine. The blanket will be exhibited at multiple locations throughout the city in the coming months, and we will announce the winner of the raffle upon reaching our fundraising goal
