ARTIVISM began as an idea that two Howard University roommates, Joshua Hughes and Isaac Alicea, shared. That idea grew into a living, breathing dream. What started as an idea has evolved through years of intention, collaboration, and belief in the power of art to move people and communities forward.
Grounded in our mission of social activism through creative expression, ARTIVISM exists to create space—literally and figuratively—for artists to be seen, heard, and supported. Through our events, showcases, and platforms, we highlight and uplift other creatives while building community around art that matters.
This is ARTIVISM.
This weekend, we celebrate a major milestone: the opening of our very first space. A home for events. A hub for artists. Another step in bringing our founders’ vision to life.

A powerful day of movement, service, and connection 🤝
We partnered with @_artivism to bring together volunteers, teen mentors, and staff for a meaningful day rooted in giving back. From hands-on service to a grounding yoga session, every moment reflected what’s possible when community shows up!

Youth Development and Community Service are key aspects to both of our organizations and we are grateful to able to come together to be able to give back to the community.
During this event, the kids were able to participate in an open mic and design their own t-shirts too! Creativity is a common thread that we all share and it can be used to bring people together towards a good cause!
This was an amazing event and we look forward to the next one! Until then, please continue to give back 🩵💚🌍

It’s graduation week—so we’re holding space all week for creativity, celebration, and community.
TUESDAY — Jam Session An open, live music session for artists, musicians, and creatives to collaborate, perform, and build in real time.
WEDNESDAY — Design Workshop Hands-on workshop where you can develop your ideas and create your own merch—shirts, hoodies, and more.
THURSDAY — Karaoke Night Open karaoke—come sing, perform, or just enjoy the energy.
FRIDAY — Graduation Pre-Game (6–9PM) A space for graduates to gather, celebrate together, and start the night before heading out for graduation nightlife.
SATURDAY — Family & Friends Kickback A welcoming space for graduates and their loved ones to celebrate, take photos, and be present after the ceremony.
SUNDAY — Social Media Sunday Open studio time for creatives, influencers, and brands to shoot content, collaborate, and work on what’s next.
No yoga this week—we’re focused on graduation.
