We've been steady making our awesome ladders for awesome customers. One customer recently gave the opportunity to create something a bit different- an alternate step Jefferson staircase. Super pleased with how this came out and can't wait to see it in it's home!
The lighter wood in these doors and trim is from a large pecan tree that came down in a storm on this customer's property. I was tasked with using this wood to create a facade for a storage area. What better way than to combine with dark walnut in a set of sliding doors.
The top of this kitchen island is made from 140 year old pine floor joists from a farmhouse, and the shelf slats are heartpine flooring from.the same house.
Today's plantation harvested lumber is just not comparable to old growth wood. It's rare to find any old growth wood at lumberyards, let alone your neighborhood boxstore. That makes working with this 140 year old heartpine all the more satisfying.
