I’ve spent the past few months shaping this release from field recordings collected in the Tibetan regions of western Sichuan during the winter of 2021.
During the journey through Serthar and Dege, the sharp contrasts of altitude sickness, freezing air, and searing sunlight, along with the red monasteries and monks scattered across the hills, formed an overwhelming atmosphere that deeply intensified my perception of sonic space. The aesthetics of Tibetan Buddhism possess a striking sensory intensity. This work departs from theological interpretation and instead extracts the spatial tension and energetic intensity embedded in these environments.
