Working from her vibrant studio in West London, Susannah King creates instantly recognisable sculptural jewellery that feels joyful and instinctive in its form and movement.
Crafted in 14ct yellow gold and set with mixed-cut moissanites, the Sparkle Multiset Ring features an undulating band with an irregular arrangement of stones chosen for their distinctive fire and light play.

Early on Sunday morning at the Linn of Dee in Braemar, friend of ætla Anna Sablova took us on a special foraging excursion for an upcoming story centred around her work and surroundings 🌱
Introducing the first designer in our Summer Residency series, New York based jeweller Jake Matluck.
Jake’s work draws from ancient goldsmithing traditions spanning Greek, Etruscan, Roman, Celtic and Cypriot cultures, reinterpreted through a distinctly contemporary lens. Working primarily in his signature 22ct gold, each piece is made using traditional techniques rarely seen in modern jewellery production.
Across the collection are antique diamonds, richly coloured stones and pearls, with a strong emphasis on materiality and process throughout.
Launching next week at ætla
ætla storefront by The Ouze // a well overdue post, but this very much deserved a spot on the grid. Back in November 2025, @the_ouze created a miniature version of the ætla façade to celebrate our 5th anniversary. Carved in wax and cast in silver, we love the details they captured, right down to the window pane. An object we’ll treasure for years to come 🖤

Alison was awarded the @gsmithscentre ’s @goldsmithsfoundation 2026 business catalyst grant which has allowed her to invest in specialist training with with renowned hand engraver Malcolm Appleby.

💎 Diamond Masterclass 💎
Monday 18th May, 6-8pm
We’re excited to be bringing back our diamond masterclasses at ætla with gemmologist Ruth Davis, head of jewellery at Lyon & Turnbull.
Expect a relaxed, hands-on evening where you’ll learn how to use a jeweller’s loupe (yours to keep), analyse diamonds up close and get a clearer sense of what you’re actually seeing, from inclusions to cut to spotting imitations. You’ll be working with a mix of diamond jewellery from upcoming Lyon & Turnbull auctions alongside contemporary pieces from ætla. There’ll be plenty of time to ask questions and try things on ✨
We’ll begin with cocktails by @pelodelperromezcal at the studio before the masterclass. Afterwards, we’ll head across to ætla boutique for a glass of fizz and a short browse, including treasures from the @ellismhairicameron trunk show and a first look at new summer residency pieces.

Work in progress // revamping an antique early twentieth century five stone ring. The ring originally featured two opals in between the three garnets, but the opals were badly damaged so we chose to replace them with two antique diamonds. Looking forward to sharing the final result! 💖
