Logical Fallacy-5 | A False Dilemma |
🧠 What is it?
A false dilemma presents only two options — when more exist.
It traps you into thinking, “You must choose A or B.”
🚫 But real life — and real faith — isn’t that simple.
👀 Example:
“You either believe in science or God.”
❌ False. That’s a trap.
✅ Christians can embrace both faith and reason.
God gave us minds to think, question, and seek truth.
🕵️♂️ How to Spot a False Dilemma:
Ask yourself:
• Are these really the only options?
• Is there a third way?
• Is someone oversimplifying a complex issue?
📖 Jesus Exposed False Dilemmas Too:
The Pharisees asked: “Is it lawful to pay taxes to Caesar or not?” (Matt 22:17)
👑 Jesus responded:
“Give to Caesar what is Caesar’s, and to God what is God’s.”
👏 He refused to be boxed in.
🙌 Don’t fall for the trap.
Next time someone says “either/or”…
Pause. Think. Ask questions.
Truth isn’t always that black and white.
