All On The Table

A piece recently published @rawheadjournal along with other work of mine, and plenty of other amazing artists writers and poets.
For me this work is about recognizing pieces of oneself and informing change. The hard unseen work it takes to get there.
I found this print and frame on the street waiting for trash pickup the other day. I thought it looked nice, but a tad heavy, aesthetically speaking. I've added some to it. Now it looks abnormal, one of a kind. ðŸ§
"Oh, in the name of God! Now I know what it feels like to be God!" -Colin Clive as Dr. Frankenstein
My collaboration with a still frame from James Whale's 1931 Frankenstein.
Inspired by Shelley's work and a continuation of her critical thinking on society as a whole. I chose to focus on the topic of delusion of grandeur, a god complex, and common trend of self importance in human society. This world is perpetually dealing with this topic continuously almost a century from this movie and over two centuries from Shelley's book.
If self importance is cemented in the human condition and psyche, then we should need to reconcile with these thoughts within ourselves that pad our egos, and work on building meaningful relationships that hold each other's value and respect as high as our own. Creating something special makes you feel some powerful things it's understandable to feel pride. The fact that you can mark culture with what you contribute is powerful. Checking your ego is as important as this thought.
I suspect that we can do this by finding a balance of self worth and humility. We can use the answers from this reflection as a catalyst for growing a community we want to participate in. Bring goodness to one another at every challenge and intersection of critical thought that we bear witness.
