Why We Race by @Biotherm @Fondationtaraocean and @AKQA « Phytoplankton are a cornerstone of all life, including ours. They capture carbone dioxide, they release oxygen. They really are a source of life and the more we know about them, the better we can protect that source of life » Why We Race is a documentary series showcasing how Biotherm’s navigation offshore team gathers millions of images of plankton while racing in the middle of the ocean, for optical oceanographers to model the evolution of planktons’ life cycle. The results will allow scientists and product designers at Biotherm to create new products that better respect the underwater ecosystem. This year during #theoceanrace aboard Biotherm’s Imoca, champion skipper @paulmeilhat and team ( @Ameliegrassi , @Anthony_Marchand_Sail , @sailing.damien_seguin ) collected over 240,000 data points. #WaterLovers is a commitment to respect and preserve ocean biodiversity. She studies microscopic life in the ocean by combining knowledge from both ship-board measurements and satellite data.
