somethin’ bout posting
for the first time this year,
halfway into the year,
about last year,
makes sense
2025 has been hit after hit (for us all)
but 2024 taught me how to survive them
smile alongside the tears
fight for peace
treasure discipline
accept what you don’t know
learn from what you do
and try to enjoy the ride throughout
love will never abandon you to yourself (unless you let it)
trust in love, let it lead
and make sure to give some along the way
halfway through and eager to see
what 2025 continues to gift me

it’s a beautiful thing
the way pieces come together
@__pagez__ had shared some beats with me
years prior
and i was fearful to engage with them
for quite some time
i lived with (and am still uprooting)
the distortion: i am not enough
some digging
and more uprooting later
i found myself finding solace
only in
the ability to vocalize
aside from prayer,
writing words and speaking in melodies
was the only way to engage
in the pain i felt losing my first love
(and what i thought would be my only)
i remember sending
the sound of the washer at the hotel i was in
and he thought it was cool.
there’s nothing @__pagez__ can’t be inspired by,
he’s brilliant.
i wasn’t sure i’d ever write another song since i’d only ever co-written one before (blue words, iykyk)
and since i wasn’t sure what was next
i wanted to do it all out
which meant, my brother had to be involved
i won’t sidetrack too far
but to know me is to know i love my brother and that i know him to be one of the greatest gifts and brightest lights
and while he’s more suave /grown now
he was a babe
but never in his thinking
he was always up for the challenges of life
facing them with a humility and playfulness far past his years
it was no surprise then,
when he recorded / slayed eight bars
like it wasn’t his first time
and thus, clouds was the first song that came into fruition of flsw

truly i am lovestruck by you
