Witnessing traditional St’át’imc fishing at the Bridge River Fishing Grounds (Xwísten) in Lillooet Canyon was amazing. I was able to witness fishermen wielding long-handled dip nets from ancestral rock platforms at the confluence of the Fraser and Bridge Rivers, just as their community has done for generations. The sockeye salmon harvested here are preserved using traditional wind-drying techniques, a practice as timeless as the river itself. Thank you to @destinationbc and Xwísten Experience Tours for the privilege of experiencing this tradition. 🙏🐟 @visitlillooet@supernaturalbc
the waiting game.
a mama grizzly cautiously observes from the river bank to see if this big male has moved on, so that she can continue to safely fish for salmon.

Finding gaps in the wind over the Nemaiah Valley to fly the drone. Fall time here is no joke! Stills from a week enjoying wild horses grazing against a canvas of fall colour, endless gravel roads stretching into the distance, and a stillness that’s hard to put into words. One of BC’s most remote and breathtaking corners, experienced with the gracious permission of the Xeni Gwet’in First Nations, who have called this land home since time immemorial. Grateful doesn’t quite cover it. @cariboochilcotincoast@supernaturalbc
