Painted a record rack for Wax Trax the last few weeks :)
This project was awesome! I had so much fun working on it. It’s a privilege to be able to contribute to such a legendary shop in my hometown 💛💚💙❤️
Painted on are ancient Mexica images directly from a variety of codices that represent music and art. Hue Hue Coyotl plays a drum and a shell, and a painted man plays a shell. The symbol on the doors represents music and poetry. The spider webs represent the fabric of time 🕸️ The texturing of the background is meant to mimic the look of the Mexica’s paper called Amate
You’ll be able to see it at their new location sometime later this year! Can’t say thank you enough to Wax Trax for the trust
Reposting this because it’s one of the most detailed illustrations I’ve ever made, I don’t like the other post I made about it, I added a splatter weird background, and I’m very proud of it and you’ll all see it at least a couple times a year 🥰💌🩷🌷
“Tu Dolor Ahora, Es Mi Dolor.”
Completed in 2022, originally started in 2020. My black eye is in the middle. My hands cradle a weak and wounded heart that still burns with rage and desire. Thorns to protect from further damage, they also pierce the skin of the wrists as to represent how painful the boundaries we impose on ourselves can be. “These flowers remind us of Mary’s Immaculate Heart, her love, and even her sorrows”. The flowers drawn are alstroemerias, they symbolize exceptional strength and bond of devotion to Jesus in Catholicism. They symbolize my bond to a false promise of love here.
These photos were taken in indirect sunlight and have not been edited
Cool! Thank for looking! Bye! 🩷💌🌷
Here’s some pics from my recent showing! This exhibition was different for me, normally I just throw my art on the wall and call it good. I tried to have more intent behind how I displayed my work this time around.
This year I started therapy again, which means I’m learning how to reparent the army of hurt kids I have inside my brain ON-TOP of trying to repair the hurt I’ve had inflicted as an adult.
I used old journal entries, film strips, and portraits of myself to portray reflection of the past and how I’ve spent my late teens and early twenties. The chrome on the journal entries reads, “SONGS FOR STREET DOGS, SONGS FOR GIRLS. ONLY BITTEN ONCE, I CAN STILL FEEL YOUR TEETH.” I scrawled the “degre” entry after speaking with the DPD and dissociating so badly I could see myself standing behind me .
I also added a shrine to the inner child. The shelf includes a small copalero/popoxcomitl, a letter from a dear friend, an amethyst crystal from a dear friend, paint brushes, a butterfly knife, candy ornaments, and a photo of my nephew.
The “Daisy Chains” with a puppy and a bunny are also included to appease the inner child and show the softness and strength she’s carried with her. After all, her resilience is the reason I am still here. Her fear is mine. Her joy is mine.
Being vulnerable on the internet is weird. My art always ends up expressing whatever I’m going through even if I don’t intend on it doing so. If you’ve read this far down, thank you <3 Thank you to my loved ones. Thank you to my therapist. Thank you to the random kindness of strangers. Life is really cool and I’m so thankful to be here ♥️

If I could ramble for a sec….. did you know a cop broke my wrist in 2020? Or was it 2021….
Make art not war was one of the first slogans I can remember ever having an impact on me, it was middle school in 2013
Art in the wake of destruction
Documentation of happier times
Documentation in the wake of disappearance
Of people of memories of joy
Perseverance of the human experience despite the tremendous grief
Support of a grander idea and a better world despite difference in identity and culture
Creation, cultivation, community, culture
We don’t have to like each other but we have to work with each other
I’m sitting on a box of documented instances of love, friendship, joy, grief, abuse, and freedom
Feeling frozen, feeling hopeful, feeling
“I just want to say something true”
Thank you

Sometimes you find yourself in Albert Lee Minnesota surrounded by 80’s vans, other times you meet a guy from Denver dressed as the Kool Aid Man busting down a cardboard border wall on Halloween in Wisconsin (Wisconsin has a forever-ray too btw) In any and all cases, you will be around friends and loved ones (=´∀`)人(´∀`=)

Lala and I printed up some Neil Young boots :) we Xeroxd and pasted up the design right from her cassette copy of Mirror Ball. They’re $15 and we thrifted all the shirts so there’s a variety to choose from. Message one of us your size and we can send you options. ☮️
Shoutout to @theempressdenver for helping us get these printed
