Two pieces of work I made for the @___woolgathering exhibition that took place @lewishamarthouse in September! 4 colour screen prints on vintage silk and lace, born out of my love for collecting vintage postcards, old fabrics and screen printing. I have a few A3 prints available to purchase, all profits going to @thesameerproject and @translating_falasteen please message me if you would like to purchase one (£25) 💘 Epic curation by brilliant @holliehunsdale who brought together some amazing pieces so thoughtfully .

My childhood nostalgia feeds into my dreams of motherhood. I set out to capture that still moment between bath and bed, when the heat has gone from the sun and the light is low and golden. The same time of day that young Patti Smith would peer out through her window in wonder. After a day of pretending, exploring, chatting, collecting, everything is calm again and you’re clean and fed, in crisp pyjamas. 1. Findings of the day - hand dyed silks - I created a palette of hand dyed silks to emulate the warmth of summer evening light - they sit in small piles like shells, sea glass or other small treasures found on a summer’s day. 2. Visions of Motherhood - soft sculptures - Hanging in a crisp Cotton Organdie is a sun hat and baby grow - bright white, and line dried. The cotton organdie holds its shape, mimicking the way washing bloats when drying in the wind. The feeling of washed, pure and crisp cottons I forever link to the memories of being warm and clean and loved - the idea of a bath and fresh pyjamas was incentive to go to bed - the beginning of a deep and sensory love for fabric and cloth passed down to me by my mother. 3. Ponds - acrylic on cardboard- Summer, early evening light on water. Refining an overwhelmingly sensory narrative to simple shape and colour. Thank you @holliehunsdale for your beautiful curation and vision and to all the other makers who wonderfully express and narrate the feelings I couldn’t or the thoughts I didn’t even know I had xxx

My Smallest Self ~ A series of dolls clothing made for @___woolgathering in response to Patti Smith’s novel of the same name. A reflection on a childhood spent creating made up worlds, dressing dolls in tiny clothing I wished to wear. ‘My Smallest Self’ is an ode to trips to Toys ‘R’ Us, spending saved-up pocket money on a new floral blouse for my dolls, and to the matching miniature hand-knitted sets made by my Great-grandma Joyce that I will forever treasure. Thank you to @holliehunsdale for putting together such a wonderful show, it is so great to be able to exhibit alongside so many amazing artists! You can come and see this show until the 15th September at - Lewisham Arthouse 140 Lewisham Way SE14 6PD Open 12-6 everyday, except Thursday will be open until late for anyone working!!

‘Woolgatherer I, II and III’, 2025
Phoebe Howard  Collage, mounted on wood Patti Smith’s use of verbs, racing, running, crossing, passing, dancing, darting, walking, skipping, wondering, capture a childhood feeling of being everywhere, all at once. Our first inkling of purpose during the long summer where we can’t bear to sleep because the world has so much more to show us. Our world is so small but our imaginations make it feel so big. Come see the Woolgatherers for yourself, every day in the gallery 12 - 6 pm 👞

Woolgathering is in bloom thanks to @maxllewlyngardens 's home grown hand picked flowers! We placed them close to the ground, framing the works, as if walking through a wildflower meadow while wandering through the exhibition.. ✧*。 'The hedge I regarded as sacred — the strong hold of spirit. The field I revered as well, with its high, beckoning grass and powerful bend.' - Excerpt from Patti Smith's Woolgathering
