Will Wonks :: A wonk in contemporary parlance is "A detail focussed enthusiast, or expert", which certainly spoke to the idea that creativity sets up home in the heart and does not leave: will be expressed through music, imagery, words, work, parenting, food _ad infinitum (deeper still, creativity is the very nature of the impossible Heart, itself). However, I chose Wonks because I liked the notion that the music I was making was now intrinsically wonky, further still, could readily be described in the verbing of wonks, as, "This track really wonks". Wonks :: ⬛⬛⬛⬜ Collapsed Architecture Designer :: ⬜⬜⬜⬛ Somewhere beneath the scorched membrane separating a fading, homogenised electro lineage from contemporary glitch aesthetics, this Wonks resonance emerges, proposing a form of time-collapsing digi-funk: cellular, unstable, and permanently mid-mutation. Rhythms buckle under their own velocity, grooves arrive partially corrupted, and synthetic debris folds itself into volatile architectures of movement. Drawing equally from dancefloor mechanics, signal failure, machine vernacular, and the psychological residue of networked life, the project's intention is to treat rhythm less as a routine structure and more as a nervous system under self-propelled pressure. Tracks behave like damaged transmissions attempting self-repair in real time, revealing fleeting pockets of funk within recursive fracture. Fragmentation is the deeply organic lead instrument. What remains is neither club music nor indulgent abstraction entirely, but an adaptive ecology of syncopated erosion, hyper-detailed rupture, and ecstatic system failure. It must be neither so abstract as to become clinical and soulless — sound design more concerned with its own construction than felt communication — nor so routinely referential as to become one of a thousand generic copycat productions. Not either/or, but both/and. Not merely abstract until sonically cold, yet not so rudimentary as to offer only a saccharine experience to the listener.

I encountered Matthew Gordon only once—on stage, supporting Plaid at The Jazz Cafe. Regrettably, we never spoke, yet something in that performance quietly and enduringly reconfigured how I understand and express creativity—and still does. Only a few weeks later, Matthew transcended the body-mind, and he never received an email I’d sent, trying to articulate what had risen out of his live performance. And still now, nothing about that encounter feels absent to me. The music continues. The current continues. Whatever moved through him didn’t end there—it diffused, carried outward into the same shared field we all draw from, knowingly or not. Just as its resonance moves through me now. It’s a routine reminder: we don’t need to meet someone to be altered by them. Influence travels without introduction. We do not “go” somewhere. We become Everywhere. See #pieeyecollective.
