Wed 20.05. | OH NON (FR) Support: Blaskapelle Chancentod (CH) – Afterparty with Reverend Beatman | Sous Soul | Doors 19:30H | Start 20:30H
The hard-to-classify band OH NON is a quintet operating at the crossroads of various styles. Their sound blends alternative rock from the ’70s and ’80s — inspired by The B-52’s, Sonic Youth, and Nina Hagen — with the quirky French chanson of Brigitte Fontaine, Stereo Total, and Les Rita Mitsouko.
Balancing cheekiness, nonchalance, and vulnerability, their songs explore urban and metaphysical anxieties — sometimes sarcastic, sometimes introspective. OH NON brings together an equally diverse audience: from the biggest complainers to the shyest souls, united by values such as inclusion and community. Between humming, noise, screaming, and melody, past and present collide.
Following their first EP in June 2024 and the surf-rock single “Caïman” (May 2025), accompanied by a video about a surreal summer in Paris, “Cette fleur là” was released on February 26 as a preview of their second EP “Dans le salon,” featuring nine tracks. The release party took place at Petit Bain.
Live, OH NON has already performed at renowned Paris venues such as La Maroquinerie, La Boule Noire, and Le Point Éphémère, as well as across France and internationally in Berlin, Vienna, Zurich, Amsterdam, and at the Grauzone Festival. The band also organizes its own multidisciplinary evenings in the style of a brutalist cabaret.
Blaskapelle Chancentod makes post-punk for people who’d rather stumble than march. No brass meets concrete, melancholy collides with hangover vibes — and somewhere in between, life dances when nobody’s watching. Like rusty love letters from nowhere. Like your broken radio alarm clock. It’s the dirt beneath poetry’s fingernails.
