Mannek is a photographic enquiry into the delicate yet striking juxtaposition between visibility + interiority within Black womanhood.
Drawing from lived experience as both reference and inspo, Mannek reflects on how Black women are simultaneously hyper-visible + distanced; perceived + aestheticised - yet rarely engaged with through a truly human, individual lens.
Fixed readings of place are disrupted + grounded environments are reauthored through the surreal possibilities of Black imagination.
Shot across a combination of digital photography and 8×10 film.
