Our special Inklings Book Club podcast episode with the brilliant Charlie Porter is out NOWWWWW!!! Thank you for sending in your gorgeous questions, and to @lalabooks.london for hosting us 📙 Here’s an intro to the novel, in Charlie’s own words
Convincing you to read Nova Scotia House with just the first page 📙📙📙 Porter uses a unique grammar style that resembles a stream of consciousness, with sentences rarely spliced by commas. It feels urgent, and honest — intuitive, and raw. Here we meet Johnny for the very first time, who follow throughout the novel, as he navigate grief, community, love, queerness, and the tension of staying when you are told it might be best to leave.
I bought Cillian Murphy a stack of personalised book recommendations — from books that reminded me of the themes of the Peaky Blinders movie, to a ln Icelandic Christmas book I thought he’d love. Let me know how I did!!!!
Books:
Glorious Exploits by Ferdia Lennon
Martyr! by Kaveh Akbar
Advent by Gunnar Gunnarson
Who should I go book shopping for next 👀

I asked Cillian Murphy the crucial question for all book lovers: Do you share your books, or do you worry that you’ll never get them back?
Cillian is team share your books… but I’ve been scarred before.
Reuniting with Cillian Murphy and reaching flow state talking about our favourite classic books 📚📚📚 In the new Peaky Blinders movie, Cillian’s character Tommy Shelby is writing a novel, so of course I had to ask him what he’s been reading lately!!!
We spoke about our love for John Steinbeck, as well as some of the Russian greats like Tolstoy and Dostoevsky, and the more accessible ways to engage with their works before taking on 1000 page tomes.
Hope you enjoyyyyy :)
