Gardens have taught me so much! I m so excited for this years garden to teach me more!
Lately, they’ve been showing me a big theme: Care
How to receive care, and how to give it, is an art. I learned this through my many doctor’s appointments last year, that giving care isn’t something everyone is skilled at. It doesn’t always come naturally, but tending to a garden can teach you how to slow down, pay attention, and care more deeply.
While I was unable to walk and feeling frustrated with our healthcare system, I spent a lot of time in my garden. I realized that gardens exist because someone cared enough about a space to create one and wanted to continue this care for years.
From that first plant, care continues to evolve. Each passing year asks for something different. Pests and disease show up, pruning takes place, you have to check their soil, make sure they have enough water. It’s always in flux, always presenting new challenges in how to care.
Life is really all about care! Caring for your people, pets, plants, and community.

Truly the hardest year of my life. My surgery was Jan 3rd and it’s hard to wrap my head around the fact that I have been basically couch ridden for a year. Anyone dealing with a chronic illness or chronic pain, I am sending you a virtual hug. 🫂 BUT staying positive and busy has been the key for me this year. There were so many things I couldn’t do, but I’m choosing to focus on the things that I did do.
Thank you to my friends who have been there with my through all of this. I truly have the best support system. I love you all!!

My garden!! I was able to experience the magic of flowers again!
I finally convinced (maybe forced) Dan to get another cat!!
I have an incredible job and coworkers who have never once made me feel bad for having to miss a meeting due to the mass amounts of doctor’s appointment I’ve had.
Yes this year was full tears, setbacks, confusion, frustration and anomalies, but it was also filled with new beginnings, friendship, learning and growth. There is always light in the darkness 🤍
back in the boot full time again and am on only walking when necessary guidelines (whatever that means) lol no the saga is not over!!!! I am a medical anomaly!!! I thank my lucky stars every day for the incredible support system I have - this year has been a really hard one 💥
