Robyn Davidson is an Australian writer best known for her 1977 expedition across the Australian desert. After two years of preparing and training camels in Alice Springs, she traveled nearly 2,700 kilometers from the Northern Territory to the west coast of Australia over nine months.

She completed the journey on foot with four camels — Dookie, Bub, Zeleika, and Goliath — and her dog, Diggity, crossing remote areas of the Australian Outback with limited supplies and communication.

Part of the expedition was photographed by Rick Smolan for National Geographic Society. In 1980, Davidson published Tracks, the memoir documenting the journey, which later inspired the film adaptation Tracks.

Mentawai tattoos come from Indonesia and are one of the oldest tattoo traditions.
Each pattern has meaning—identity, protection, and connection to nature. Made by hand with natural ink, they follow the body’s natural lines.
