Presenting WIP Live’s first evening of live work in progress by artists Charlie Lee and Thomas Capogreco Date 6-8pm, Tuesday 30 September Address Upstairs, 1b Marine Parade, Abbotsford WIP Live is an evening for artists to share something raw and in-process, a space to test ideas, meet new collaborators, and grow something over time. Work that is shown may be a fragment of a larger piece, something untested, or the spark of a first-time collaboration. As the audience, you are invited to watch and absorb and share your experience and reflections with the group after each performance. ————————— Charlie Lee is a production designer, writer and performance maker from Aotearoa working across dance, text, costume making and film. Led by queer/trans* ecological methodologies and aesthetics of collapse, they make work which is contaminated by precarious balances and feelings of anticipation. Charlie is interested in how design and materials can act as choreographic agents, and problematise dualistic understandings of the body and world. They hold a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Production) from the Victorian College of the Arts. Recent design projects include short film Emile is Missing (2024), and dance works Time Under Tension (Luke George, 2024), and Air Hunger (Lucy Eidelson, 2023). They were also part of the Emerging Writers Program at Seventh Gallery in 2024, and have published writing with Going Down Swinging and Blindside Gallery. Currently they co-facilitate Trans Ecology Club, a reading and project group for more than human thinking. ————————— Thomas Capogreco is a sonic artist and creative coder, teaching and studying on the unceded land of the Wurundjeri people. Their creative practice revolves around distributed synthesis - a novel technique which attempts to coalesce participants’ phones into a conglomerated digital synthesiser instrument. Their current project, Glossa Derma, uses this distributed synthesiser instrument to generate the soundscape for a guided meditation - a psychical journey towards the possibility of a new era. ————————— Presented by Quality with Sofie McClure
