We are a group of photographers, models, writers, videographers, and creatives who want to promote the things we like, the artists we adore, the places we treasure, the experiences we see. Our plans are to host exhibits, photo walks, studio sessions, meet ups, hangouts and everything in between for creatives of all levels. We are currently holding open calls for our physical magazine for young artists in Tokyo! Artists will be receiving a free copy of our magazine, where their art will be featured within this edition, as well as a spot guaranteed for them in our exhibit that we will be hosting to celebrate the release of this edition. As long as the work is on theme, we will take any art work in any medium and any experience! ** コメントに日本語の説明があります** In Yanaka, art collective Datsuijo has created a space for baring it all. What was once a modest neighborhood home has been reimagined as a gallery where, like their name which is derived from the term for the area where you de-robe at an onsen, layers are able to be removed; but instead of clothes, it’s one’s identity and presentation. It is a space that allows visitors to truly be themselves. The six members of the collective come from around the globe, each bringing their own practices and perspectives together to shape the space into somewhere that is not just artistic, but also social and comforting. Here, meetings are encouraged, intimacy is unavoidable, and exhibitions tackle all sorts of topics. These can range from urgent global issues, to queer culture, and everything in between. Datsuijo is less about consuming art quietly and more about what happens in between: the conversations, the encounters, the vulnerability of being present.
