Before having a child, I didnt spend much time at home; my creativity was partitioned, belonging to the studio while the home remained a space for rest and recharge. However, much to my denial my life changed permanently, and the home became the site of making and the source influencing my creativity. Now, slowing down and sitting in space I find meaning in the micro moments of the everyday. Living by the ocean, I have no choice but to be guided by the metronome of the waves, life is rhythmic, loud and rooted in place. So here are some things that inspire me to make art between naps, my creative acts woven into the margins of caregiving.
Birds chatting, veggies growing, sun chasing, flowers blooming, Liam’s cooking, Solly discovering, cabbage fermenting, and my favourite artists on my walls and whose cups I drink my coffee out of every morning.

Such an honour to be apart of The Architecture of Feeling curated by Megan Monte @wollongongartgallery . They also recently acquired the piece, which is oh so wonderful! Gong4lyf!
Break That Pot: An experts guide into making wall pieces.
Last year I was making a very fragile piece and on the last smooth of the surface I heard it crack and the entire front face collapsed into my arms. I screamed and to my luck @_narellewhite came running and calmed me instantly. As she helped me lay the piece on the ground we both together went hmmm that would look nice on a wall.
I didn’t love this piece and what’s the point on stopping there! I loved its surface and thought again maybe it would look nice on a wall too! So here we are putting on a show for the neighbours! Thanks @kyatisuharto for putting up with me.

Recently life has been giving white.
White like the fog hugging the escarpment. White noise lulling us to sleep. White like the pelicans soaring the thermals above. White like the vintage baby dresses my mother handed down to me that I won’t let her ruin. White like two shiny front teeth that just sprouted bringing with them tears and fever. White like the milk that soothes and soothes again.
