As I wrap up a new arrangement for @metropoleorkest and @vincemendozacomposer for @somimusic ‘s upcoming project, I can’t help but remember this tremendous experience writing for 3MA, an incredible group consisting of @ballake.sissoko on kora @drisselmaloumi on oud and @rajery_music on valiha What an honor to be able to sit on one’s desk for a very prolonged period of time, (or a JFK terminal!!) dream, imagine, and hear it all come true, performed and conducted by the very best. Big thanks to @fididarius for all the trust, the orchestra, my team for this project @ksaulnier.music and @lucabbordonaro as well as @jambiggins for spending a few hours in New York picking his gorgeous brain on percussive ways to use the instrument and @manosstratis for his illuminating lesson on maqam. So great to also have shared this experience with my fellow colleague at @berkleevalenciacampus soloist, violin wizard and band mate @federiconathan #magic ✨✨✨

Last Saturday we played a show with @cuareimquartet that will stay with me forever ✨ Thank you @fididarius and @musicaalsbalcons ! This is clip of the song “Matoklada” by Greek composer Markos Vamvakaris with a string arrangement of mine brought to life by @bauza_rodrigo_ (Argentina) @guillaume.latil (France) @olivier_samouillan (France) @federiconathan (Uguguay) The universality of music, the way culture remains active and transforms itself, the way audiences quench their thirst in a concert, never ceases to amaze me, making me all the more grateful for this precious life filled with music.

O mejor dicho, son de todos a la vez. @bandamagda es un colectivo internacional fundado en Nueva York con músicos de Grecia, Japón, Argentina, Colombia, Brasil, Turquía, EE.UU, Uruguay y Polonia. Liderado por la cantante, compositora y acordeonista griega Magdalini Giannikou, su música no entiende de fronteras ni de géneros. Samba, jazz, folk griego, cumbia colombiana, chanson francesa. Todo mezclado con una naturalidad pasmosa. @_______magda ha participado en el álbum de Snarky Puppy 𝘍𝘢𝘮𝘪𝘭𝘺 𝘋𝘪𝘯𝘯𝘦𝘳 𝘝𝘰𝘭. 1, ganador de un Grammy. El Kronos Quartet la comisionó para actuar juntos en el Lincoln Center y tiene residencia en el Carnegie Hall. Cosa fina. Samba, jazz, Greek folk, Colombian cumbia, French chanson — all blended together with striking naturalness. @_______magda appeared on Family Dinner Vol. 1 by Snarky Puppy, a Grammy-winning album. Kronos Quartet commissioned her to perform together at the Lincoln Center, and is an artist-in-residence at Carnegie Hall Top-tier stuff.
