A federal court has granted Elon Musk's request to add Apple software chief Craig Federighi as a document custodian in xAI's antitrust lawsuit against Apple and OpenAI.
Designating Federighi as a custodian means his internal communications, emails, and files related to the case must be searched and produced during discovery, and he is likely to be deposed.
Tim Cook appears to be spared.

OpenAI's lawyers are working with an outside firm on a range of options that could be formally executed in the near future, including a possible notice to Apple alleging breach of contract without immediately filing a full lawsuit, according to Bloomberg.
Apple and OpenAI struck their deal to integrate ChatGPT into Siri as part of iOS 18 in 2024.
OpenAI reportedly expected the partnership to drive more ChatGPT subscriptions, along with deeper integration across Apple apps and prominent placement within Siri.
One OpenAI executive told Bloomberg the company has "done everything from a product perspective," while Apple has not held up its side of the deal.

Starting today, Strava has added support for the AirPods Pro 3's built-in heart rate sensor, allowing iPhone users to stream live heart rate data directly to the app's Mobile Record feature without an Apple Watch.
When both devices are worn, Strava automatically selects the most accurate heart rate source.

An interesting new CNET survey found 14% of iPhone owners are motivated to upgrade by new phone designs like foldables, slightly higher than the 13% average across all smartphone users.

iOS 27 will reportedly make the Camera app fully customizable, letting users choose which controls appear in the interface and where they sit.
That includes flash, exposure, timer, and resolution. Each shooting mode gets its own set of customizable controls via a transparent "Add Widgets" tray that slides up from the bottom.
